Local Schedule: Results from Oct. 16

The Jim Thorpe boys soccer team closed out regular-season play with a big win over Palmerton on Saturday.

BOYS SOCCER

Jim Thorpe-Palmerton

TJ Dudak had a hat trick and added an assist as Jim Thorpe closed regular-season play with a 7-0 nonconference victory over Palmerton.

Evan Fedora scored a pair of goals for the Olympians, who are 11-4-3 as they await the District 11 playoffs.

Thorpe also received four assists from Dawson Meckes, while Ryan Monahan and Georgiy Sakharov both finished with a goal. Noah Geiser and Rowan Melber each chipped in with an assist.

Goalie Jacob Geiser made four saves for the winners.

The loss ended the Blue Bombers season at 2-16.

Tri-Valley-Marian

Hat tricks by Lukas Ruch and Levi Umbenhauer allowed Tri-Valley to earn an 11-0 victory over Marian.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-7-1 with the win, while the Colts dropped to 0-14.

Tamaqua-Pottsville

Mario Ortiz scored a pair of goals to help Pottsville gain a 3-1 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

The Tide held a 1-0 halftime lead on a goal by Tyler Shappell.

Nick Barron tallied for the Blue Raiders, with Jacob Schler assisting on the score.

Tamaqua goalie Jon Ulicny made eight saves in the contest.

The loss ended the Raiders season with an overall mark of 7-10-1, and a league record of 4-9-1.

FIELD HOCKEY

Holy Redeemer-

Lehighton

Holy Redeemer jumped out to a big lead and held off Lehighton for a 4-2 victory.

The winners tallied twice in the opening quarter, and scored again early in the second to take a 3-0 advantage.

The Indians’ Gabby Brown pulled her team within two later in the period, but the Royals regained the three-goal lead before halftime.

Faith Yeakel of Lehighton (9-8) scored in the third quarter to narrow the gap, but that would be the only scoring in the second half.

Tribe goalie Shelby Heater finished with 17 saves.
