The Rev. Monsignor Michael Sopoliga, pastor of St. John’s Orthodox Church, Nesquehoning, was honored on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his ordination in the holy priesthood at a testimonial banquet staged by his parishioners on Sunday.

During the program, remarks were made by the church board president, Joseph Staivecki, the Very Rev. Monsignor Hilary Wroblewsky of Freeland, the Rev. David Koseey of Lansford and the Rev. David Mariak of St. Clair. Presentations were made to Monsignor and Mrs. Sopoliga by the church A.C.R.Y. Youth Club, the church choir, Ladies Club and parishioners.

Ordained on Oct. 1, 1944, he has been pastor of the Nesquehoning church for the past 32 years.
