About 150,000 gallons of water was lost during the night when a main line leading from one of Slatington’s three reservoirs broke.

The problem was discovered in the woodlands near the “Downtown Reservoir” located off Welshtown Road northwest of the community.

Paul Miller, a borough maintenance worker, said a 3-foot section of a 6-inch pipeline was found split.

The Northern Lehigh High School was among those affected by the water level drop, but school was not in session today.

Miller said the break reduced the water level in the reservoir down to the 1-foot mark.
