The Dimmick Memorial Library in Jim Thorpe has announced the following events for October.

• The library is selling shopping passes for Boscov’s Friends and Family Sale on Oct. 20. Stop by the library and pick up your shopping pass before Oct. 20 and shop the sale. Just donate $5 and receive a 25% off shopping pass. Passes must be used in-store only. All proceeds of the shopping pass donations support the library.

• Virtual Story-time is posted every Tuesday from 10 a.m. on the library Facebook page. The schedule will be Oct. 19, theme Monsters, and Oct. 26, theme Halloween.

• The Coaltown Crafters will be meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the library. Newcomers are always welcome.

• The Friends of the Library are hosting book sale weekends during Jim Thorpe Fall Foliage Festival. The book sales will be inside the library from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Oct. 16 and 23. Masks are required inside the library.

• Penn Kidder Library is having a Halloween Crafternoon on Oct. 19 from 2-6 p.m. at the Penn Kidder Library. Kids of all ages are welcome.

• The library will be hosting a Book Signing with Christopher Vernon on our porch on Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. His newest book, “Love Letters to My Younger Self,” will be available to purchase and sign. Stop over and meet the author.

• Local artist Yvonne Wright’s work is currently on display at the library. Her work is playful, with fun levels of surrealism that draws the viewer in. Her work will be shown until the end of November. Pieces are available for purchase. A portion of the total sales of the show benefits the library directly.
