Events
• Jim Thorpe Fall Foliage Festival, 9 and 10, 16 and 17, and 23 and 24.
• The Electrifying Jack O Lantern Experience, 7-10 p.m. Oct. 6-14 and 6:30 to 10 p.m. Oct. 15-Nov. 6, West End Fairgrounds. Tickets are sold as timed entrance each half-hour to control crowds. Tickets must be purchased in advance and no one will be admitted without a paid ticket. No tickets will be sold at the gate. For information, www.electrifyingjackolanterns.com.
• Fall festival, Beltzville State Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10. The event includes music by Godfrey Daniels, scarecrow making, games, crafts, pumpkin painting, story times, bake sale, food truck and hikes. Sponsored by Friends of Beltzville. The rain date is Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call Bob 610-377-0045.
• Hoot Hike and Ghost Stories, Oct. 14, 5:30-8 p.m. Covered Bridge, Trout Creek. Don’t miss this free spooky hoot of a night! First Wildlands will introduce you to some wonderful creatures of the night, then noted local author and storyteller Charles Adams III, will tell ghost stories around the campfire! Dress appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and don’t forget a flashlight.
• Lehighton Downtown Initiative will hold Rocktoberfest in the Upper and Lower parks from Oct. 15-17, with additional details to follow.
• The Walnutport Canal Association will hold A Day Along The Walnutport Canal from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 17.
• Slatington: Trunk or treat, Oct. 22, 5-6:30 p.m., Eagles Nest Park, 3818 Eagle Road, Slatington. Costumes encouraged.
• The Summit Hill Recreation Commission will hold Halloween in the Park on Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 30. There will be refreshments and treats. A karaoke machine will be at the site.
• The Bowmanstown Family Activities Committee is holding Fallfest on Oct. 23 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club. There will be craft and direct sales vendors, concessions, music, basket raffle, activities for kids and a chili cook-off. Times for the events vary with the chili cook-off being held noon to 2 p.m. and the basket raffle running from 1-4 p.m. Money raised during this event will go back to various Bowmanstown Community organizations. Anyone looking to get involved with a stand, donation or to volunteer their time to the event can reach out to eventsbfac@gmail.com.
• On Oct. 25, the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company is hosting an open house and trunk-or-treat.
• Attendees and their four-legged or two-legged pets are encouraged to come in costume to the annual Ross Township Pet Parade at 11 a.m. on Oct. 30.
• St. Joseph church in Summit Hill is holding its annual Trunk or Treat/Oktoberfest on Oct. 30. Call the parish office to reserve your space. Trunk or treat will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Oktoberfest will take place following 4 p.m. Mass at the pavilion pole building. Food and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for sale. We will also hold a mini-basket auction.
• The West End Park & Open Space Commission and West End Fire Company will once again host a drive-thru trick-or-treat event at the firehouse on Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. The firehouse is located on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.

• Jim Thorpe Lions Club Halloween Parade, Oct. 23, 2 p.m. Rain date Oct. 24 2 p.m.
• Tamaqua Halloween Parade, Oct. 26, 7 p.m.
• Northern Lehigh Events Committee’s Halloween parade to come through the borough, and to close street Oct. 30, with a rain date of Oct. 31.
• Slatington Halloween parade at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30. Roads will close at 5 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 31.
