Tamaqua man charged in domestic violence case

A Tamaqua man was arrested after he punched a woman in the borough.

Tamaqua Police responded to Biddle Street for a domestic call with an injury Sept. 18. Police spoke with the woman who said there was an argument that became physical.

She said Victor Salgado, 33, punched her in the face. A red mark was also observed under her eye. Police spoke with the victim’s son, who said he didn’t see anything but heard arguing.

Police arrested Salgado for domestic violence. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker and released on $25,000 unsecured bail. He is charged with simple assault and harassment.

A preliminary hearing is set for 11:05 a.m. Oct. 5 in Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer’s courtroom.
