Summit Hill

Meet the chief

Summit Hill Borough invites its residents to meet and greet the new chief of police.

Join the new Chief of Police and your neighbors to discuss and learn more about the new and improved philosophy of the police department, as well as to reboot a post-pandemic Community Watch program.

The event will take place on Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hill Top Community Center, located at 114 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill.

Nesquehoning

Historical society

The Nesquehoning Historical Society Museum is now open for visits on the first Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to noon.

The building is located at 157 W. Railroad St., in Nesquehoning. There is no charge, however, donations are welcome.

There will also be a membership meeting on Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Anyone who has memorabilia or artifacts and would like to donate them to the society can drop off the items at that time. The society asks that all items are labeled with any information to help identify what the item is or who is in the photo.

Senior center

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of Oct. 4-8 is as follows:

Monday: No meal

Tuesday: Baked ham, sweet potatoes, beets, pineapples or turkey Cobb salad

Wednesday: Breaded chicken, buttered noodles, vegetable blend, baked apples or Cuban sandwich

Thursday: Corn chowder, pulled pork, coleslaw, pudding or chicken Caesar salad

Friday: Mushroom soup, bacon cheeseburger, potato wedges, tropical fruit or beef and cheese sandwich

The center has also announced upcoming events for Oct. 4-15.

Crafts on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m.; Van Trip on Oct. 5 at 9:30 a.m.; Flu Shots on Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon, call the center to schedule an appointment; Bingo on Oct. 7 at 10:45 a.m.; Now You Have It Now You Don’t on Oct. 8 at 11 a.m.

Center closed on Oct. 11; Birthday Bingo on Oct. 12 at 10:45 a.m.; Penn’s Peak Show on Oct. 13, doors open at 11 a.m.; Michelle Nutter from the Attorney General’s Office will present The Top 10 Senior Scams on Oct. 14 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on Oct. 15 at 10:45 a.m.

Pool, Cards, Games and Socialization available every day.

New members always welcome.
