State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating the discovery of dead cats inside a dumpster located on property on a Lower Towamensing business.
Police said they were called to Ampal Inc., 2115 Little Gap Road, at 3:43 p.m. Saturday for a report of dead cats inside the dumpster.
Police said the complainant contacted police after discovering the dead cats and one live kitten inside a cat carrier in the dumpster.
Police said the kitten was taken to a friend’s house where it was given nourishment and then taken the next day to Creature Comforts, a veterinary service in Saylorsburg, for an assessment. While there, the kitten died.
Police said inside the dumpster information was discovered that linked the cats to a suspect who works at the Ampal firm. Police said the cat carrier had a name written on a piece of masking tape on the bottom of the carrier. Inside the carrier, one adult black cat was found and four recently-born kittens were discovered. All were deceased, police said.
