State Police at Schuylkill Haven

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 2:32 a.m. on Sept. 16 along Keystone Boulevard in Foster Township.

Troopers said Richard R. Galarza, 61, of Mahanoy City, was driving a heavy industry Kenworth truck and attempting a left-hand turn onto Keystone Boulevard and was traveling at a high rate of speed. The tractor trailer rolled onto its right side.

Galarza was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville, for evaluation, troopers said. The truck had to be towed.

He was cited for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 12:47 p.m. on Sept. 15 along Route 183 in Wayne Township.

Troopers said Thomas E. Schalata, 67, of Stevens, Bradford County, was driving a 2010 Dodge Nitro southbound while Branden C. Webb, 27, of Taylor, Lackawanna County, was driving a 2019 Freightliner truck tractor, and stopped for a stop sign on Blue Mountain Road.

Schalata subsequently went onto the shoulder of the road and struck the truck, then crossed over onto the northbound lane where it came to rest.

Schalata was taken to the Reading Hospital for treatment of injuries. Webb was not injured.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:08 p.m. on Sept. 18 along East Canal Street in Landingville.

Troopers said a 17-year-old male from Orwigsburg, was driving a 1998 Honda Civic northbound and traveling over a metal bridge with wooden planks when he lost control and crashed into the right side of the bridge.

The teen and two male passengers, both 17, from Pottsville, all suffered minor injuries but did not require immediate medical attention. The vehicle had to be towed.

The teen was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
