Thoreya Audiology works to meet needs, lifestyle, budget

They provide hearing solutions that fit their customers’ hearing needs, lifestyle and budget.

A full-service audiology office, Thoreya Audiology recently opened its doors at 613 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive E., Suite 101 in Lehighton.

The business held its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Sept. 18 amid much fanfare, according to owner/audiologist Leeann Koch.

“I talked about how I would like the business to be part of the heart of the community,” Koch said. “I want them to be comfortable coming here knowing there’s someone that’s a native from the hometown.”

Koch, of Lehighton, said it’s important to her that customers feel welcome.

“I want to have people come in and feel we have a relationship here; that they are not just a number,” she said. “To have a trust relationship where it’s not just me telling them what they should do; I want to treat anyone that comes into my door like they’re family.”

Koch said she believes she has the right business approach to succeed.

“I want to meet their hearing needs, and work with their budget at the same time,” she said.

Koch explained that when people experience hearing loss, it affects not only their mood, but also their memory.

“A lot of times when people have hearing loss, they’re very tired,” she said. “When they have trouble in these situations, they tend to exclude themselves, they start to isolate themselves.”

Koch stressed how important it is for people to get their hearing checked when they’re young.

“It’s good to do that,” she said. “Treating hearing doesn’t always include a hearing aid.”

For Koch, the concept of starting up her own business came to fruition “during the last two years of craziness in the world.”

“It’s always been my dream to own my own practice,” she said. “If you want to achieve your dreams, there’s no time like the present.”

Koch said she has long-term goals as well.

“I definitely want to expand the practice, and have dreams of opening a practice in Delaware,” she said. “My ultimate goal is to have a multi-practice and not just in Pennsylvania borders.”
