September 25, 1989 - Jim Thorpe’s defense forces five turnovers and scores a touchdown as the Olympians gain a 21-0 Mid-Penn Conference victory over Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech. Thorpe, coached by George Yaniger, opens the scoring in the first quarter when Todd Emmert forces a fumble and Paul Henning scoops up the loose ball and races 35 yards to the end zone. Another takeaway, this one forced by Chris Andreas and recovered by Joe Kehrli, results in a 2-yard TD run by Greg Lazorick, who finishes the contest with 91 yards rushing. The winners add an insurance score in the fourth on an Andreas 17-yard touchdown scamper.
