Carbon County Commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners, on Thursday, acted on the following items:

• Approved the appointment of Thomas Wildoner of Jim Thorpe to a five-year term on the Parks and Recreation Commission.

• Approved the distribution of $20,357.59 from the City of Bethlehem to various school districts and townships representing payment in-lieu-of-taxes for 2021 on property owned by the Bethlehem Water Authority. The breakdown for distribution is: Jim Thorpe Area School District, $8,528.30; Palmerton Area School District, $5,046.86; Penn Forest Township, $355.34; Towamensing Township, $304.29; Lower Towamensing Township, $4.70; and County of Carbon. $6,118.10.

• Ratified the renewal for special risk accident coverage for county volunteers from Oct. 1 through Oct. 1, 2022. The carrier is Gerber Life Insurance Company through CCAP Insurance programs. The premium is $340.

• Approved a service agreement with LANTA for transportation services under the Medical Assistance Transportation Program from July 1 through June 30, 2022 at the trip rate of $39.70.

• Approved two change orders with JBM Mechanical of Nazareth for the removal of a cast iron pipe and rock excavation at 44 Susquehanna St. at a cost of $5,672.29 and the installation of a new domestic water line into 76 Susquehanna St. at a cost of $22,645.73. The change orders increases the contract total to $361,318.02.

• Approved a change order with Leibold Inc. of Pottsville for the replacement of four rooftop units at the 76 Susquehanna St. building. The cost is $70,000, bringing the contract to $569,500.

• Approved a resolution offering seven county-owned vehicles for sale. Some are not in the best shape and a minimum bid of $100 has been set.

• Approved the award of a $100,000 discretionary grant through the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education to support the implementation of Together With Veterans Northeastern Pennsylvania. The project period is from April 1, 2021

to March 31, 2022.

• Prison Board appointments: Thomas C. Ebinger of Effort and Matthew W. Smith of Nanticoke, corrections officers, effective Sept. 27.

• Change of status: Terri L. Rock of Jim Thorpe, from county caseworker II to county casework supervisor I, Children and Youth, effective Sept. 27.

• Court appointments: Kailey T. Jones of Walnutport, law clerk, court administration, effective Sept. 27; and Maries C. Aponte of Walnutport, probation officer I, juvenile court office, effective Oct. 1.

• Controller office: Retirement of Harold Hydro of Jim Thorpe, accounting manager, effective Oct. 1.
