Shepherd House
The Shepherd House Food Pantry in Weatherly will distribute food between 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday. If you have an emergency and need food before this date, please contact Charlie Hettler at 570-427-8981. If there is no answer, please leave your name and phone number on the answering machine and he will get back to you. The Food Pantry is located at 335 Third St. in Weatherly.
If you would like to donate to the Shepherd House, please send your donation to the address above. All donations will be greatly appreciated.
Future food distribution dates for 2021 are Oct. 23, Nov. 20 and Dec. 18.
Community library
The Weatherly Area Community Library will hold a basket raffle on Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Packer Township Municipal Building, 2234 Hudson Drive, Weatherly. The drawing starts promptly at 1 p.m. Preview night will be Oct. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m.
There will be over 100 baskets for lucky winners as well as lottery boards. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Story time
Story time for children between ages 3-8 will be held on the second Friday of the month during the school year from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. No sign-up is required. The first story time will be Oct. 8. Children must wear masks to participate at this time.
Ghost stories
On Oct. 29, local author David Wargo will tell us stories from his book, “Mysteries on the Mountain: A Collection of Summit Hill History, Ghost Stories, and Lore.” Wargo researches information from stories to connect them to real events. He will be speaking from 7 to 8 p.m. Then he would like to hear ghost stories from Weatherly.
Refreshments will be enjoyed at the end of the evening. He will sign copies of his book for anyone who would like to purchase it during refreshments.
Friends Helping Friends
The library has tickets for the Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends program. If you donate $5 to the library, you will receive a 25% discount ticket to use at Boscov’s (in store only) on Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. You can also register to win a $100 gift card in the store.

“A Whale of a Tale” by Bonnie Worth (A Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library) was donated by Robert and Karen von Frisch.
Activities committee
The library activities committee will meet at 6 p.m. on Oct. 7 before the board meeting at 7 p.m.
