State police at Frackville reported on two incidents investigated by troopers at two Schuylkill County locations.

• On Sept. 8 at 5:49 p.m. a 65-year-old man from Girardville reported he received a email, which he thought was from his boss, asking him to purchase gift cards for employees of the company he works for - Gottstein Corporation. He purchased $4,047.59 worth of Visa gift cards and sent the information to the email he originally received. He then realized, after talking with his boss, that he was scammed.

• On Sept. 11 a 57-year-old man from Ringtown Road in North Union Township, Zion Grove, reported he heard a grinding/cutting noise outside his residence about 4:30 a.m. When he went outside he observed two people at his vehicle, a 2004 Jeep Cherokee, which was parked across the road from his home. The two got into a vehicle and left. Later, at 11:30 a.m., he went to the vehicle and realized the exhaust pipe on it had been cut in an apparent attempt to take the catalytic converter.

Damages were estimated at $500.
