A 47-year-old Palmerton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop initiated by state police at the Lehighton barracks.

Police stopped the 2006 Dodge Durango at the intersection of State Road and Fairview Street in Franklin Township at 2:03 a.m. Aug. 20 after the driver committed numerous traffic violations.

Police said it was determined the man was under the influence and was taken into custody but he refused chemical testing and will be charged accordingly. Troopers did not identify the suspect.
