Police investigate catalytic converter thefts

Area police are investigating the thefts of catalytic converters throughout the region.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle that was parked in Porter Township.

A 25-year-old Halifax man reported the converter was removed from his vehicle between May 15 and Sept. 10 while it was parked on South Yohe Street in the township.

In another report, police said a 49-year-old Pine Grove man reported at 10:29 a.m. Aug. 14 someone stole the catalytic converter off his 1998 Chevrolet that was at Renninger’s Market, North Manheim Township.

A catalytic converter was also taken off a 2019 Ford F550. It was reported at 12:34 p.m. Aug. 30 by the victim, Utility Line Services in Conshohocken.

The converter has a value of $1,500, police said.

Two generators and four catalytic converters were taken from a site off Green Tree Drive in West Brunswick Township.

The 23-year-old man from Auburn reported his property is used as a campsite. The Generac 5500 and Predator 350 generators were stolen, and the converters were sawed off a 1991 Ford Ranger, a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe and a1996 Jeep Cherokee sometime between midnight Aug. 14 and 1:34 p.m. Aug. 31.

Meanwhile, state police at the Stroudsburg barracks are investigating the theft of a converter from a vehicle that was parked at the Martz Bus station in Delaware Water Gap.

A 57-year-old woman from East Stroudsburg reported at 6:23 p.m. Sept. 7 that her vehicle was parked at the site on Foxtown Road for about 16 hours on Sept. 3. The converter was cut off her 2021 Kia during that time. The converter is valued at $1,500, police said.
