September 17, 1981 - Palmerton’s Georgianna Messinger sets a new course record to help the Blue Bombers gain a Centennial League cross country sweep of Lehighton. Messinger completes Palmerton’s 3.1-mile course in a time of 19:37 to aid her team’s 19-42 victory. The Bombers take the top three places, as Shari Barbosa takes second and Theresa Wargo finishes third. In the boys race, Art Iris and Steve Mistretta cross the line tied for first as Palmerton rolls to a 15-50 win. The Bombers’ Kirk Yeager ends in third.
