State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on several area crashes:

• Carlos Gomez-Rivera, 22, of East Stroudsburg, was cited by police with failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 8:18 p.m. Aug. 24 at the intersection of Firehouse and Marion lanes in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Acura northbound on Firehouse Lane when he lost control of it and drove into a ditch.

Gomez-Rivera was not injured. The car was drivable, police said.

• Colleen Genovese, 47, of Bloomsburg, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 2:27 p.m. Sept. 1 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police said she was driving a 2017 Infiniti westbound when she lost control of the vehicle and it spun clockwise, traveling across both westbound lanes onto the south berm. The car traveled back across the westbound lanes and came to rest on the north berm.

The Infiniti was towed from the scene.

• Branden E. Garner, 20, of Effort, escaped injuries in a crash at 6:26 p.m. Aug. 20 on Interchange Road (Route 209) in Polk Township.

State police said he was driving a 2005 Nissan Frontier northbound when he lost control of the vehicle and it drove off the road, overturning at its initial impact and then landing on its wheels in the southbound shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police said Garner was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• No one was injured when a car struck a deer at 5:38 a.m. Aug. 8 on State Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said Christopher L. Bracker, 26, of Blakeslee, was driving the 2003 Subaru Forester eastbound when the deer entered the roadway and he was unable to avoid striking it.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages.

• Kendall D. Nicholson, 18, of Effort, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:51 p.m. June 24 at the intersection of Route 715 and the Effort-Neola Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, by the West End Ambulance and Rescue Company. The extent of his injuries is unknown, police said.

Police said the incident occurred when a 2002 Chevrolet Trail Blazer driven by Julian G. Ortiz, 18, of Tannersville, was traveling east on the Effort-Neola Road and the driver failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with Route 715. Police said the Trail Blazer turned onto Route 715 and was struck by a 2008 Volvo driven by Nicholson, who was southbound on Route 715. Nicholson and three of his passengers were not injured, police said.

They said Ortiz was cited for failure to stop for a stop or yield sign.

• Two vehicles were damaged at 10:58 a.m. Sept. 2 on Neola Road in Jackson Township.

Police said the two vehicles were northbound on the road when the driver of a 2010 Freightliner missed a right-hand turn, came to a complete stop and reversed the vehicle, striking the front end of a 1985 Chevrolet Corvette.

The Freightliner did not sustain any damages and the Corvette had minor damage, police said.

• Rosanne J. Ziminsky, 66, of Albrightsville, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 9:40 a.m. Aug. 23 on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said she was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer northbound when she lost control of the vehicle. It crossed the centerline divider and struck a ditch before coming to rest in the southbound lane.

Police said Ziminsky was evaluated at the scene by personnel from the Lehighton EMS corps and was cleared at the scene.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

• Joseph W. Radzierez, 56, of Effort, was cited by state police for a crash at 9:44 p.m. Sept. 3 on Route 715 in Jackson Township.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Mazda that crashed into a ditch, requiring it to be towed from the scene. He was uninjured.
