Kids Closet Sale ready for return to Penn’s Peak

The 2021 Kids Closet Sale is set to kick off this weekend.

After last year’s sale was held online due to the pandemic, the Times News will put together its in-person event once again at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe.

Over 14,000 items will be available Friday-Sunday.

Friday will be the VIP and new mom night from 5-9 p.m.

“New moms can sign up for free by emailing us to get registered. For VIP tickets, contact the Kids Closet Sale Facebook page,” said Jennifer Benninger, director of advertising at the Times News.

VIP passes are $10.

Saturday is the public shopping day where everyone is invited to come inside at Penn’s Peak from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at no admission price.

“I think everyone was happy that we had the online option, because it gave them an opportunity,” Benninger said. “But nothing compares to an in-person sale.”

Sunday’s sale only will be half-price on most items from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Every single item goes through an inspection,” said Benninger. “We make sure things that require batteries have batteries, clothing isn’t ripped, and that all items are all quality merchandise.”

This year’s event marks the third year that the Times News has put it together.

Some consignors have donated items such as blankets and pillows, which will go to an animal shelter, while donated clothing will go to a local church.

“We want to encourage everyone to come on out. We missed everyone and we are excited to get back to the in-person sale,” Benninger added.
