DUI charges
Ten motorists were charged, or have charges against them pending the results of laboratory testing, as a result of traffic stops conducted by state police.
Seven drivers were halted by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks while one each was stopped by troopers from Lehighton, Bethlehem and Stroudsburg.
They include:
Fern Ridge
• A 22-year-old Lehighton man who was stopped at 6:10 p.m. Sept. 4 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. During the stop, police found him to be under the influence of a controlled substance and conducted a search that resulted in officers finding a controlled substance and related paraphernalia.
• A 39-year-old woman from Effort who was stopped at 2:20 a.m. Sept. 4 at the intersection of Kresge Farm and Long Mountain roads in Polk Township. She was found to be under he influence of an alcoholic beverage.
• A 50-year-old Long Pond man who was stopped at 6:32 p.m. Sept. 3 on Route 115 in Tobyhanna Township and found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was also found to be wanted o an active arrest warrant.
• A 41-year-old Blakeslee man who was stopped at 8:55 p.m. Sept. 3 on Route 115 in Tunkhannock Township. He was discovered to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
• A 42-year-old Albrightsville man wo was stopped at 4:35 p.m. Aug. 12 at the intersection of Rt. 115 and McCormick Lane in Tunkhannock Township. Police said after find out there was an active bench warrant for his arrest against him, he driver resisted arrest and a struggle took place before he was subdued.
• A 52-year-old East Stroudsburg man who was stopped at 11:25 p.m. Aug. 27 at the intersection of Rt. 715 and Walnut Lane in Jackson Township. He was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
• A 47-year-old Wind Gap man who was stopped at 2:10 a.m. July 30 at the intersection of Greenview and Lamplight lanes in Chestnuthill Township. He was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.
Lehighton
• The driver of a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 who was stopped at 1:22 a.m.. Sept. 6 at the intersection of Kramer Lane and Delaware Avenue in Palmerton and found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Stroudsburg
• The driver of a vehicle stopped at 6:38 p.m. Sept. 3 at the intersection of Milford Road and the Joseph W. Battisto Bypass in Smithfield Township who was found to be in possession of drugs/narcotics.
Bethlehem
• Luis Vazquez, 24, of Lehighton, who was stopped at 2:26 a.m. Aug. 20 on Route 22in Bethlehem. Police said he showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody without incident.
