Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then the traditional service at 11 a.m.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m., join us for prayer and praise.

Sept. 16, 23, 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. is the Silver Sisters exercise class.

Sept. 12 at 9:45 a.m. is the start of Youth Confirmation classes.

Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. is church council meeting.

Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. is staff parish meeting.

Sept. Mission of the Month is Samaritan’s Purse. It is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970 they helped victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Concourse Club Art Show

The Concourse Club of Palmerton will be holding its annual art and photography show Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church Hall, Third and Lafayette Ave., Palmerton.

The event includes the artist exhibit, art market, raffle, and tribute to local artist Jeanne Stemler.

Knitting club

The knitting club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library on Sept. 13 from 5:30-7 p.m. This group is free and open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting of all skill levels. The group meets the first Monday of each month.

Library board

The Palmerton Library Board of Directors will meet at 4 p.m. Sept. 15. They meet the third Wednesday of each month. Meetings are open to the public.

Community meal

A free community meal will be served Sept. 14 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. The menu will be choice of pulled pork sandwich or chipped beef on toast, hash brown casserole and dessert. For information, please call 610-826-2050.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will be changing its worship time beginning this Sunday for the fall and winter. Service will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday school will also resume on Sunday.

Come visit the church’s stand at the community festival. They will be selling chicken barbecue and filling and gravy. You may enjoy their famous “Happy Bowl” which is barbecue covered with filling and gravy. Hope to see you there.

Marching band

The Palmerton Blue Bomber Marching Band is proud to announce they will be performing at the home Bomber football games in a pregame show at 6:40 p.m. They will perform a halftime show at away games.

Ride specials

Don’t miss the ride special opportunities at the festival. Pay one price ride specials will be Friday from 7-11 p.m., Saturday from 1-5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

‘Aladdin Jr.’

The Palmerton Area Drama Club will give a performance of Disney’s ‘Aladdin Jr.’ on Sept. 18 and 19 at the Palmerton Area High School, 3525 Fireline Road, Palmerton. On Sept. 18 the doors will open at 6 p.m. with curtain at 7 p.m. On Sept. 19 the doors will open at 1 p.m. with curtain at 2 p.m. Please come and support the cast for what is sure to be a fantastic performance.
