September 7, 1962 - David Werner throws for 233 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half, to lead Lehighton to a 32-14 victory over rival Jim Thorpe. Werner connects with Mike Novatnack on a pair of TD tosses, one going for 60 yards and the other a 35-yard hook-up. Werner’s other scoring strike is a 30-yarder to Joe Armbruster. Two of the tallies are set up by Jake Boyer interceptions. Armruster adds a 9-yard touchdown run in the second half, while Denny Haldeman also reaches the end zone from three yards out. For the Olympians, Gary Heydt scores both his team’s touchdowns.
