Bed Bath and Beyond is opening a 1 million square foot regional distribution center at the former site of the Schuylkill Mall.

Ryder System Inc. will operate the 71 Mall Road location slated to open this fall, according to press release from Bed Bath and Beyond. The opening will allow for replenishment of stores within 10 days from the current 35 throughout the northeast.

The company plans to open a similar store next year in California.

In all, 300 jobs will be created at each location, the company said.

Ryder posted jobs online, saying it will open at the site Sept. 1.

The demolishment of the mall started in January 2018 and finished that July.

The property was purchased by NorthPoint New Castle LLC, Riverside, Missouri, for $2.1 million in a bankruptcy sale in January 2017.
