Resident concerned with speeding

A Palmerton resident is concerned about speeding along a street near his home.

Bruce Morrison, who resides in the 200 block of Harvard Avenue, asked council on Thursday if something could be done to curtail speeding.

“It seems like Third Avenue is a speedway,” Morrison said. “(They’re going) way too fast, and I’m concerned about kids; is there any way of stopping that?”

Mayor William Gallagher said the borough’s police department is aware of the situation.

“As time allows, we will put up speed traps,” Gallagher said. “Our manpower is limited.”

However, Gallagher assured Morrison he would discuss the matter with the borough police chief.
