Virtual Information Sessions

Northampton Community College will hold free, virtual information sessions on the career as a community health worker on Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. and Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. via Zoom.

Community health workers are trusted members of a community who help individuals overcome barriers to health care by linking them to community resources. The Affordable Healthcare Act mandates that CHWs are to be members of health care teams in patient-centered medical homes and accountable health care organizations.

Tune Up Your Table Saw

Learn how to tune up your cutting saw on Sept. 11, 9 a.m.-noon, at the Fab Lab, Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem.

Students will learn how to tune up the table saw in this 3-hour, hands-on class. Learn the different types of table saws and the tools and supplies that are needed, how to make adjustments and how to set up the saw properly. Along with the basic setup of the saw, the class will cover fences, miter gauges, inserts, sleds and different types of blades.

Spartan Sprint 5K Run/Walk

Northampton Community College’s Spartan Sprint 5K Run/Walk is back for another year of helping students. The seventh annual Spartan Sprint will be held on Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. The race starts and finishes at NCC’s Bethlehem Campus. The course is point to point and mostly flat and fast. Strollers and leashed pets welcome. Post-race raffle, music and refreshments will be offered.

For the first time this year, the race will feature chip timing and the option of purchasing extra race T-shirts. For more information and to register, visit northampton.edu/spartansprint .

All proceeds from the event go toward Spartan Aid, a fund created to assist NCC students with any nonacademic barriers to college success, including transportation and food insecurity.
