Inmates sentenced for possession of contraband in prison

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that on Aug. 18, Jose Martinez, 54, and David Montserrate Torres, 33, both inmates at the Federal Correctional Institute-Schuylkill, Minersville, were sentenced by U.S. Magistrate Judge Joseph F. Saporito, Jr. to one month imprisonment following their separate convictions for possession of contraband in prison. Both sentences are to be served consecutive to the inmates’ current sentences.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Brandler, both Martinez and Montserrate Torres were inmates within the satellite camp at FCI-Schuylkill when they were found to be in possession of prohibited objects including a cellphone, charging cable, charging adapter, and a pair of earbuds on July 18.

The case was investigated by Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jeffrey St. John and James M. Buchanan prosecuted the cases.
