Tamaqua Police Log

The following incidents were reported by Tamaqua police:

• Lena M. Zizzo, 57, of W. Rowe St., Tamaqua, has been charged with defiant trespass.

On Aug. 5 at 2:05 p.m. police were dispatched to West Broad Street, for a trespassing complaint. Officers were told by the property owner that Zizzo entered the apartment of her relative after previously being told not to enter onto the property.

• Dylan David Smolar, 25, of S. 5th St., Lebanon, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance - heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Aug. 11 at 3:10 p.m. an officer on patrol observed the defendant in front of Boyer’s Market on Cedar Street. The officer knew there was an active warrant for his arrest. While taking him into custody the officer found on Smolar’s person five bundles of glassine baggies stamped with “Hipster,” with a white powder inside suspected to be heroin. Also found was a purple baggie with a white powder inside which Smola admitted was heroin, and seven orange capped hypodermic needles.

• Tyler David Ansbach, 28, of Meadow Ave., Tamaqua, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing or attempting to elude police, registration and certificate of title required and driving without a license.

On Aug. 15 at 9:19 p.m. officers were monitoring traffic on Owl Creek Road at Route 309 when they witnessed a motorcycle turn right and start driving on 309 north. The bike had no rear lights.

Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop using emergency lights and siren. The cyclist then entered the area of the Speedway service station and continued onto Mine Road. He approached an area of water across the road. Police chased him through the water and he was eventually apprehended.

He had a clear glass pipe with residue inside, along with a clear bag with a crystal like substance inside, suspected to be meth.

• Ralph Jamie Richardson, 34, Clay Street, Tamaqua, and Robert B. Derr, 51, of Brown St., Tamaqua, have been charged with disorderly conduct for an incident on July 31.

At 9:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to 239 Clay St., for a group of people being loud, throwing firecrackers and revving four wheelers. Officers spoke with Richardson and his wife, who were out on their porch drinking with friends. Richardson admitted revving his four wheeler earlier and throwing firecrackers. He was advised to respect his neighbors.

At 10:38 p.m. police were dispatched to the same location for the same type of complaint. Derr, who lives next to Richardson, who claimed Richardson was harassing his father. An altercation occurred between Derr and Richardson. Derr shoved Richardson to the ground.

At 11:45 p.m. officers were again dispatched to the scene when another neighbor called to complain that Richardson was revving his four wheeler. The citations were filed.

• Jason Christopher Wiersma, 43, of Pine Street, Tamaqua, has been charged with public drunkenness.

On Aug. 17 at 1:42 p.m. police were called to the Hang Loose Bar, 300 E. Broad St., for an unwanted person. The person was previously banned from the bar and was arguing with patrons and the bartender when he was told to leave.

Officers saw Wiersma, who they knew from a description given to them by the communications center, outside the bar. He was highly intoxicated. Patrons in the bar identified him as the person causing problems. Police said he was initially uncooperative with them but later calmed down and gave identification information. He was then taken home and told he would be cited.
