State police report stolen vehicle, scam

State police at Fern Ridge reported troopers are investigating a stolen vehicle report and a scam involving the purchase of a dog.

On Aug. 15 at 8:49 a.m. troopers responded to Parker Trail, Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, for a report of a stolen vehicle. A 37-year-old woman from Albrightsville reported her 2019 maroon Kia Sorento was stolen from her driveway between Aug. 14 at 3 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 15. She said the vehicle was unlocked but the keys were in her residence.

A 61-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman from Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, reported that they had been scammed after attempting to purchase a dog over the Internet. The dog was offered for sale on Facebook.

The victims forwarded $1,500 via Visa gift cards through the Zelle website. They never received the dog.
