Carbon County court — drug-related cases

A Carbon County man was sentenced to a prison term on Thursday in the county court after pleading to a drug-dealing charge.

He was one of six defendants in pending drug-related cases to enter a plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Weatherly incident

Justin Michael Samler, 29, of Beaver Meadows, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance - methamphetamine, a felony offense.

He was arrested on Jan. 2 by Weatherly police along East Main Street at Hill Street following a vehicle stop. Drugs were found in the vehicle in a quantity used for sales.

Samler is currently an inmate in the county prison on the charges. He has pending cases in Luzerne County and was recently sentenced for a probation violation in Schuylkill County of 121 days served.

Matika sentenced him to serve nine to 23 months in the county prison and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, supply a DNA sample, must have a pre-parole plan before his release and render 100 hours of community service when paroled. The prison term runs concurrent with Schuylkill County.

He was granted work release privileges. He has about two more months to serve, it was noted.

Other pleas

Frank Michael Trotta IV, 21, of Kunkletown, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance, heroin.

He was arrested on March 3 by Franklin Township police along Beech Street.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, render 50 hours of community service and continue his current drug treatment program.

Eric P. Graham, 34, of Weatherly, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested on May 28, 2020, by Weatherly police along Wilbur Street following a vehicle stop. Fentanyl was found among drug paraphernalia, the police report indicates. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped in a plea deal.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Caleb Harley, 21, of Frackville, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested on Jan. 29, 2020, by Weatherly police along West Main Street following a vehicle stop. Heroin was found. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Kevin A. Polanco Perez, 23, of Freeland, pleaded to one count of possession of a small amount of marijuana.

He was arrested on June 28, 2020, by state police at Hazleton, along Walnut Street in Tresckow, Banks Township.

Matika imposed a fine of $150 and costs.

Dawn Maureen Snyder, 45, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was arrested on Sept. 11, 2020, by state police at Lehighton along Interchange Road at Bank Street in Franklin Township, following a vehicle stop. Police said methamphetamine was found. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
