Storm roundup: Power outages, roads closed

As of 5:30 a.m. PPL Utilities is reporting 2,000 people without electricity in storm-related outages.

Locally, outages are reported in Bowmanstown borough, 179; Lehigh County, 391, which includes 90 in Washington Township; Monroe, 179, with a few in Chestnuthill and 78 in Polk Township; Northampton County, 47; and 10 in West Penn Township, Schuylkill County.

In Towamensing Township, a 40-foot tree fell onto a garage on Sunday. No injuries were reported.

Nearby in Towamensing a resident reported 4 inches of rain in her gauge at 11 p.m. Sunday.

The National Weather Service says 3 to 5 inches fell in the area.

In Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, Meadowlake Road is closed at Route 115 and Pheasant Road is closed because of storm damage between High Hill Road and Hill Run Road.

Several roads are closed in Pocono Township and Tannersville.

Stroudsburg, some residents were moved from apartments off Dreher Avenue to safer areas. A shelter was set up at Koehler Fieldhouse at East Stroudsburg University.
