Local roundup: Results from Aug. 20

The Palmerton golf team kept its strong start to the season going with an impressive performance in a Colonial League contest Friday.

Elsewhere, Lehighton posted its second win in a row, while Weatherly opened the season with a victory.

GOLF

Bangor-Northwestern- Palmerton

Palmerton swept Northwestern and Bangor in a Colonial League match.

Tyler Hager’s 70 led the way for the Bombers (3-0), who defeated the Tigers 389-507 while the Slaters finished with a score of 508.

Palmerton’s Connor Reinhard finished with a 76, and Josh Suto carded a 77.

Nick Scott had a 96 for Northwestern (2-1). Freddy Bacon posted a 77 for Bangor.

Blue Mountain-Lehighton

Jack Lorenz and Aaron Miller both had strong early season rounds to lead Lehighton to a 333-363 Schuylkill League victory over Blue Mountain.

Lorenz took medalist honors at Jack Frost Golf Course with a 72 and Miller was close behind with a 75.

The victory improves the Indians’ record to 2-0 on the season.

Jack Nemshick carded medalist honors as Weatherly knocked off Nativity 405-469 in a Schuylkill League match.

Nemshick fired a 93 to lead the Wreckers (1-0). Owen Broskoskie followed with a 100, while Maddie VonFrisch carded a 102.

Jake Challenger’s 208 paced Nativity.
