A video of a possible tornado in Hegins Township posted on social media has prompted the Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency to inform the National Weather Service.

“We are trying to get the experts at the National Weather Service to view and compare it to the weather data and determine whether it is actually a tornado,”John Matz, Schuylkill County Emergency Management Coordinator said at 3:30 p.m.

The agency was alerted to the video after a concerned resident called them wanting to send it. Matz said staff viewed the video and took the aforementioned action.

Schuylkill County is under a tornado watch until 8 p.m.

The agency is unaware of other potential sightings of possible tornadoes.
