The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Jose Martinez, age 54, an inmate at Federal Correctional Institute-Schuylkill, Minersville, was charged on Aug. 4 by criminal information for unlawfully possessing a prohibited object.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Bandler, the information alleges that on July 18, Martinez was found to be in possession of prohibited objects including a Samsung cellphone, charging cable, charging adapter and a pair of Sony earbuds.
The matter is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorney James Buchanan is prosecuting the case.
The maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is one year imprisonment.
