1-3 inches of rain expected through tonight

Heavy rainfall associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred will move into the area this afternoon and evening. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected with locally higher amounts possible. This may lead to areas of flash flooding.

While rounds of rain will be widespread, some areas may see heavy downpours, which could lead to rapid onset of locally flooded roadways along with small creeks and streams.

Motorists should watch for ponding on roadways and flooding in poor drainage areas while traveling.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation warns motorists not to drive across roads covered with water because even shallow, swiftly flowing water can wash a car from a roadway. Also, the roadbed may not be intact under the water. Never drive around barricades or signs on closed roads - Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
