Four demolition contracts in Schuylkill were extended at Wednesday’s commissioners meeting.

Ron Zimmerman, grants manager, said the contractors needed additional time to complete demolition due to other projects. Additional time is likely not needed, he said.

Extensions were granted to Sept. 16 for two properties Northeast Industrial Services is tearing down, 203 Jackson St., Port Carbon, and 420 W. Bacon St., Palo Alto., and two by MEI Demo Excavation for 254 E. Bacon St., Palo Alto, and 212 N. Second St., Saint Clair.

Commissioners approved the initial contracts July 14 along with others. Funding for the removal comes from a mixture of state grant funds and other revenue sources.
