A 47-year old Minersville man died Saturday in a motorcycle accident on Route 61 North.

State police at Frackville identified the man as Michael G. Smith. Police said the 11:08 p.m. accident took place as Smith was driving his 1994 Honda north in Blythe Township when he lost control while driving too fast for road conditions. He hit a guide rail after leaving the east side of the road, the motorcycle hitting the ground with its left side. The front tire continued in an easterly direction and continued to slide in northwest direction. Responding to the scene were the Saint Clair Police Department, Saint Clair Fire Department and Schuylkill and Shenandoah EMS.
