Trinity highlights

Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., begins 9:30 a.m. The bread wafer and juice are presealed as a safe way to observe the sacrament. Reservations are not required. A face mask covering the nose and mouth is no longer required for those fully vaccinated and past the 10-day waiting period. Included in this time is a Blessing of Nurses and Medical Workers. The blessing is in memory of Florence Nightingale (May 12, 1820-Aug. 13, 1910), considered the founder of modern nursing. The church is air-conditioned. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides.

The Trinity Thrift Store is open for business without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Thrift Store is closing early Aug. 18 at 3 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

For those planning to attend the Carbon County Fair this week through Saturday, please look at the “group display” area where Trinity will be included.

The installation of Vicar Sarah Moore (no relation to the Rev. Moore), seminarian intern from United Lutheran Seminary, Aug. 29, as she begins serving Trinity for 12 months.
