Two of Lehighton’s top-drawing events have been given the go-ahead to hold their respective events this year.

Borough council unanimously agreed on Monday to hold the 2021 Halloween Parade on Oct. 2, with a rain date of Oct. 3.

Afterward, council unanimously approved the request from the Lehighton Downtown Initiative to hold Rocktoberfest in the Upper and Lower parks from Oct. 15-17, with additional details to follow.

In a related matter, council gave approval of the permit for the consumption and/or possession of alcoholic beverages for the Rocktoberfest event.

This will mark the borough’s 50th annual Halloween Parade, after last year’s event had to be postponed due to COVID-19.
