Office closed

The Eldred Township office is closed today for staff vacation day. The office will reopen at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Vaccinations given

The Pleasant Valley School District has set up a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for students and community for students age 12 and over who attended PV Cyber Academy or outside cybercharter schools during the 2020-21 school year.

The first Pfizer vaccination will be given this Thursday and the second given Aug. 26 at the Pleasant Valley Middle School cafeteria on Route 115 in Brodheadsville.

OES meeting

The Order of the Eastern Star will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rimrock Masonic Center with a social hour and refreshments following the meeting.

Bike night

American Legion Riders Chapter 927, Gilbert, is hosting a bike night from 5-9 p.m. Friday.

All bikes are welcome. The Cody James and Grant Wagner Duo will be playing ’60s and ’70s hits.

There will be food such as burgers, pulled pork, cheese nachos, sides, free dessert and a cash bar as well as raffle, and best bike contest.

The group invites people to join them at the pavilion.

The group’s monthly meeting is set for 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the American Legion Post home.

The various Legion Riders chapters are known for their charitable work, which has raised hundreds of thousands dollars for local children’s hospitals, schools, veterans homes, severely wounded service members and scholarships.

FUSION to begin

Middlecreek Christian has announced that FUSION is back, coming Saturday and beginning at 2 p.m.

FUSION is a day of free music, food, and ministry.

To help with costs, love offerings will be accepted anytime during the event. The event is held outdoors with music throughout the day, times to unite in prayer, dinner, and a conclusion of the day with a movie and campfire Bible study.

And on Sunday, there is a closing service starting at 10:30 a.m., also being held outdoors.

Saturday worship

Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, will begin its 5 p.m. Saturday service this week. Sunday services will be at 8 and 10:30 a.m. with a Zoom option for the 8 a.m. service and a livestreamed Facebook option for the 10:30 service. A simple prerecorded Facebook is also available each week.

Community supper

Our Lady Queen of Peace community Sunday suppers return to indoor dining.

The first one is happening from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Special music

St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, Saylorsburg, anticipates a visit by the multitalented Mitchell Hourt of Palmerton into the sanctuary to provide special music on Sunday. A music major at Moravian University, Mitchell plays trombone, piano, organ and accordion.

Those who come can stay for a light refreshment coffee hour after the 10 a.m. service.

Riders meeting

The Legion Riders will meet at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Post 927 in Gilbert.

Monday bingo

Monday evening the Legion again sponsors its bingo, which is open to the community.

Card sales begin at 8:30 p.m.; game time starts at 7 p.m.

Ross meeting

The Ross Township Board of Supervisors is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Monday.

Hoagie sale

Zion United Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is holding its hoagie sale from Tuesday through Aug. 23. Orders can be dropped off at the church office or called in to the church office at 570-992-6988.

They can be picked up on Aug. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m., or on Aug. 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parish social hall.

SAL meeting

The Sons of the American Legion will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the American Legion in Gilbert.

Jam time

On Aug. 10 and 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., it’s time for musical interaction at St. Peter’s UMC in Saylorsburg.

Musicians are invited to bring their respective instrument, vocal cords and a beverage and enjoy and create.
