State police at Fern Ridge and Lehighton reported on four separate theft by deception cases in the past 10 days where someone stole or used identities of the victims to obtain Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation benefits.

Troopers from the Fern Ridge barracks were called to two cases in Chestnuthll Township. The victims are women ages 38 and 60, both from Effort. In Penn Forest Township, it involved a 47-year-old woman from Jim Thorpe. They happened on July 19-20.

Troopers from the Lehighton were summoned on July 29 to Penn Forest Township for a similar case with 58-year-old man as the victim.
