Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church, Lewistown Valley.

American Primitive

Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m. at American Primitive Methodist Church. Service available at www.tamaquachurch.org and www.facebook.com/PMChurchTamaqua. There will be no Sunday school until further notice.

Hope in the Mountains Nar-Anon Family Group meets at 57 Hunter St. If you have questions or are interested in attending these meetings, contact Mark at 570-952-5098.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday being held at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. Sunday school classes are scheduled for 9:15 a.m.

Aug. 1 is the all day Sunday school picnic. Lunch (bring a covered dish) will be served after the worship service. Fun and games are scheduled for the afternoon followed by a hot dog road. Evening vesper service at 6 p.m. For details and questions about food call 570-668-3359.

Wednesday evening prayer meeting on Aug. 4 at 7 p.m.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on July 22 with 29 members in attendance. The president opened the meeting with the reading “A Wish For You.”

Margie Skymba and Ruth Betz were added to the sick list.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 or older is invited to attend.

Baby food distribution

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. John XXIII Parish, 307 Pine St., distributes free baby food and cereal on the third Saturday of each month by appointment. The distribution continues to be done as a curbside pickup outside the church hall due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Stage 1 and 2 baby food and cereal will be provided each month for babies from birth to 1 year. The distribution is from 9-11 a.m. each month, and registration is required by the Wednesday prior to distribution.

Diaper Depot

Diaper Depot, which provides free diapers to families in the Tamaqua Area School District, is accepting new clients.

A new client must present proof of residence and birth documents for the child. Available diaper sizes for children up to age 4 are newborn to 6, 2T-3T boys or girls and 3T-4T boys or girls.

New clients must make their requests at www.ziontamaqua.com. Diaper pickup is by appointment only. Diaper requests are verified by return email.

Diaper Depot is a ministry of Zion Lutheran Church in Tamaqua, in partnership with the Greater Philadelphia Diaper Bank.

This ministry is for families with babies living within the Tamaqua Area School District or belonging to the parish.
