Coaldale man waived assault case to court

A Coaldale man waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of strangulation.

Mark Manos, 64, appeared June 29 in Magisterial District Justice Stephen Bayer’s courtroom. He is charged with strangulation, simple assault and harassment for a May 13 incident when police were dispatched to West Miner Street for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Police said a woman said he “grabbed her by the neck and forced her against the wall with his hands around her neck,” according to charging documents after she refused to give her keys to the car.

He has wrecked two vehicles previously, documents say. He let go after saying she would give the keys. The victim ran to a neighbors to call police. An officer noticed red marks on her neck upon arrival.
