Tornado warning issued for area

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for the region until 5 p.m.

Take shelter in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

If you are outdoors, in a mobile home or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter.

Several instances of flooding are possible tonight, especially in urban and poor-drainage areas and near vulnerable small creeks and streams.

This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. High near 75. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Low around 62. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
