The Panther Valley School District took action last night that calmed the concerns of concerned parents of band members and band boosters by hiring a new band director.

Christopher Evans was hired as an elementary music teacher at a salary of $24,000. He will also receive a stipend of about $3,200 for his work as a band director.

In other personnel matters, the board rehired the following head coaches: Tom Klementovic, baseball; Donna Malaska, softball; and Frank Gerber Jr., track and field; and furloughed Roxanne Bonner, Corinne Gates, Heather Heffelfinger, Mary Mantz and Eileen McGlynn as instructional aides for the 2000-2001 school year.
