Motorcyclist injured when bike hits deer

A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday afternoon when he struck a deer in West Penn township. The incident occurred just after 5 p.m. as the biker was traveling east on Pine Hill Road about a half mile east of Route 309. A deer ran into the driver’s path, with the bike striking the deer. The deer then knocked the rider off the motorcycle. The bike went down sliding off the roadway coming to rest on a lawn.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning ambulance before being transported to a nearby trauma center. The West Penn fire company responded with their fire police maintaining traffic control at the scene. West Penn township police are investigating the incident.
