The Schuylkill County Historical Society will present a program on the history of the Reading & Northern Railroad on Aug. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at 305 N. Centre St., Pottsville.

The speaker will be Matt Fisher, general manager of the railroad’s Passenger Department.

Admission is free for society members and $5 for the general public.

Volunteers needed

The Schuylkill County Historical Society is seeking volunteers to help clean up the Mount Laurel Cemetery on Bulls Head Road, Pottsville, on Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Please wear gloves and, if possible, bring lawn mowers and gardening tools.
