Police seize $15K worth of drugs in traffic stop

A vehicle stop by members of the Pocono Mountain Regional police has led to the arrest of the driver.

Police said at 11:09 a.m. on July 16 police stopped a speeding vehicle along Sullivan Trail in Pocono Summit. Upon contact with the driver, Joshua Deridder, 25, of Pocono Pines, police could detect the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Deridder was later found in possession of marijuana “moon rocks.”

A narcotics K-9, Creed, was called to the scene and alerted officers to a large box containing high grade bulk marijuana in pound bags. Further investigation led to a residence where more high grade marijuana was found in large Mason jars.

Additional marijuana and “moon rocks” packaged for sale and components used to make and manufacture the marijuana product were also found. There were marijuana wax, oils, marijuana butter, packaging and manufacturing materials located in the residence. Street value of all the items is estimated at $15,000.

Deridder was charged with possession with intent to deliver and manufacture marijuana, criminal use of a communication device, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and motor vehicle code violations.
