Vandals add suds to Lehighton fountain

Vandals hit the fountain in the Lehighton Borough Park on Friday morning.

Foam could be seen pouring from the fountain for what borough officials said is the second time in a month.

“Pranks are pranks and are to be expected at times,” the borough posted on its Facebook page.

“However, twice in one month, vandals have chosen to disrespect the heart of our borough by filling the iconic fountain with soap and bubbles.”

The Lehighton Downtown Farmer’s Market is set to host a Christmas in July event in the park on Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

“The clean up that is required,” the borough posted, “especially the day before a large event for the public, when our departments have other tasks, is cumbersome and time consuming and tax dollars could be better utilized.”
