Palmerton Area School District’s board of directors on Tuesday approved hires:

• Olivia Rider as high school math teacher at a salary of $48,250.

• Joseph Trimmel as high school special education teacher at a salary of $47,250.

• Malia Mueller as a music teacher at the high school, S.S. Palmer, and Towamensing Elementary at a salary of $46,750.

• Angela Rivera to work in the summer school program as an elementary teacher from July 21-Aug. 5 at a rate of $33 per hour.

• Tara Marques to work in the summer school program as a substitute teacher (as needed) from July 21-Aug. 5 at the rate of $33 per hour.

• Erika Katona resigned as high school learning support instructional assistant effective July 14 and was hired as a substitute instructional assistant at rate of $10 per hour.

Other approvals

• The 2021-22 Emergency Instructional Time Template Section 520.1.

• Authorized the business manager to sign the Sponsor-to-Sponsor Agreement between the district and the Lehigh Carbon Community College SHINE afterschool program for purchasing of meals from the district.

• $75 donation from the Palmerton Concourse Club to the high school Future Business Leaders of America activity club.

• Lease rental agreement with Theatre World Backdrops for the backdrop rental package for the high school drama activity club.

• Contract licensing agreement with Music Theatre International for the production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. by the high school drama activity club to be held in September 2021.

• Amateur license agreement with Broadway Licensing for the production of Clue: On Stage by the high school drama activity club to be held in December 2021.

• Contract licensing agreement with Music Theatre International for the production of “Fiddler on the Roof” by the high school drama activity club to be held in April 2022.
