Woman’s body found in East Stroudsburg dumpster

The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a dumpster outside the Salvation Army.

At 11:52 a.m. Thursday, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Washington Street in East Stroudsburg in reference to a possible body found in a dumpster.

Patrol units and detectives arrived at the scene and confirmed that a body in various states of decomposition was located in the dumpster.

The body was recovered from the dumpster and an unidentified woman was pronounced dead by the Coroner’s office at 12:39 p.m.

Due to level of decomposition the height, weight, race and identity of the deceased has not yet been determined. The description of the clothing worn by the deceased appeared to be denim shorts and a black shirt. This incident is currently an active ongoing investigation. The cause and manner of death has not been determined.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
